Prayer & Worship
Everything we do for God and in life should be saturated in worship and prayer to Him. We worship God because He is worthy of it, and we want others to see this displayed in how we conduct our lives. Because Jesus is worthy, we surrender our hearts to Him by prioritizing Him in everything. All else is secondary to this relationship.
Our acts of service and ministry in His Kingdom must flow from this relationship, where we have surrendered our lives to His Lordship and exalted Him to the highest place in our worship.
Each of us is called to live a lifestyle of prayer and worship as we walk out the mission of reaching people with the Gospel, whether close to home or in foreign nations.
Unless we seek to hear God’s voice daily by His Spirit and through the Bible, we cannot obey Him to the fullest. Likewise, unless we live a lifestyle of worship and gratitude, our lives may not reveal the truth of what He has done through the Cross.
How will others know Him through us if our lives look just like theirs? How will they see the difference when we do not share what He has done for us with thanksgiving?
The Will of God for Us
God’s Word tells us to always rejoice, to pray unceasingly and to give thanks. The Apostle Paul writes that this is the will of God for us in Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Living a life that gives God praise helps us experience joy instead of mourning and beauty for ashes. These qualities displayed in our daily lives can then display to others that we belong to the Lord. They will see the joy and peace we possess compared to the fear and discontentment present within those of the world. In this God is glorified. Isaiah 61:3 NKJV
Worship
When we give our worship to God alone, we declare that His worth is more to us than anything else. People who see this will want to know why. As His Word says, when Jesus is lifted up, all will be drawn to Him.
Our worship of God is not just apparent by our weekly church attendance or singing hymns and songs of praise. There is more to worship than that. Mostly, those around us see it in how much we prioritize God and also seek to please Him in how we treat others. How we live reveals whether our worship reveals the worth He has to us.
Prayer
When we pray, we seek to pray in agreement with God. His will should be our desire above our own. We should not seek to further our own opinions or agenda, but the Lord’s alone.
Jesus wants His Father’s house to be characterized by prayer, even calling His house a house of prayer in Matthew 21:13. God could describe His house in many other ways, yet He chose to call His house a place of prayer (Isaiah 56:7). May we seek to pray alongside Christ who makes intercession for us at the right hand of God the Father (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25).
Worship and intercessory prayer hold an important place in our relationship with God. Through worshiping Him only and praying for others, we make His worth and love known.
